Comparison of precast concrete floor slab production TYPES.

Summary, choosing technology depends to a greater extent on your production plans for development and growth of producing capacity in the future in the 5-year perspective at least.

In comparison of the two technologies, they have differences and similarities. They both could cover the span up to 7 meters. Thickness 180 for hollow core slabs and 160 mm for solid slabs is very close. Different in weight (solid slabs 400 kg per sq. m., hollow core slab 246 kg per sq. m., so the solid slabs approx 40% heavier than hollow core slabs) and in width: 1195 mm for hollow core slab and 2500 mm for solid slabs.

 

So in accordance with that estimate you have to consider your planning capacity in the future, because as you see hollow core slab technology with the full capacity is 2 times cheaper than battery mould producing technology. But in the beginning with only base investment to battery mould technology seems to be cheaper. But keep in mind that battery mold production has more than 20-30% in the cost price of the slab in accordance with hollow core slab technology by the reason of rebar cage producing. Also keep in mind additional foundation cost, additional construction walls rebar cost and transportation costs (approx + 20%) for the solid slabs.

 

In Section 1 with the hollow core slabs technology difference between our offer is quality and automatisation: Option A and B is the fully automated System with cross coordination between Weiler/Maxtruder Batching plant, concrete delivery and casting process. For example the casting machine orders the exact volume of concrete by themself so you need only 1-2 operators for the full casting process (because concrete extrusion process has to be uninterrupted), but in the Option C you need staff up to 5 employees for manual operating control. Also quality and speed of Weiler/Maxtruder service machines as Saw or Multifunctional machines, as well as batching dosing systems is higher.

 

Total concrete producing and concrete delivery system costs (a+b in Option C and D) for the both systems is: 457 000 EUR

 

This can feed with concrete also battery moulds wall producing in QUOTATION No: Q24.1-141224 (to see the quotation request here).

 

For reducing costs you can work without your own batching plant and concrete delivery system by ordering concrete to local suppliers with an auto-mixer and feeding it with a concrete cup with a bridge crane. This will result in slower work and dependence on local concrete suppliers (the concrete may be of poor quality, too runny, or too dry), as well as additional overhead crane workload in the workshop and the need for additional workers to constantly feddings concrete manually.


Section 1. Hollow core slab (with offered Extruder technology, by Weiler brand).


Weiler line for the production of 1,2 m (1195 mm) hollow-core floor slabs 180 mm height (and other types of products).

Hollow core slab (with offered Extruder technology, by Weiler/Maxtruder and X-tec/Elematic brand from long term reserve Storage, without operation) more expensive for the start but more efficiency with a maximum capacity.

Turnkey solution for slab production line launch with batching plant and concrete delivery system

Our company as a part of GBI Precast Engineering Group, having many years of experience in supplying equipment for precast concrete plants, offers a comprehensive solution for launching the slab production with the most 2 common precast slab producing technology:

  • Hollow core slab (with offered Extruder technology, by Weiler brand)
  • Solid slab  (with offered battery mould technology, by Olmet brand)

Summary, choosing technology depends to a greater extent on your production plans for development and growth of producing capacity in the future in the 5-year perspective at least.

  • Weiler Extruder hollow core slabs equipment cost from 478 000 EUR to produce 40 000 sq. m. per year slabs (11.95 EUR per 1 sq.m slab), and extendable for every 1 sq. m. per year slabs for 1.75 EUR. On the maximum capacity (5 pcs 126m casting bed) it will cost 3.49 EUR per 1 sq.m slab.
  • Olmet battery mould slabs equipment cost from 575 000 EUR to producing 80 000 sq. m. per year slabs (7.18 EUR per 1 sq.m slab), and extendable for every 1 sq. m. per year slabs for 6.56 EUR. On the maximum capacity (6 pcs 20-comp battery mould)  it will cost 6.54 EUR per 1 sq.m slab.

In comparison of the two technologies, they have differences and similarities. They both could cover the span up to 7 meters. Thickness 180 for hollow core slabs and 160 mm for solid slabs is very close. Different in weight (solid slabs 400 kg per sq. m., hollow core slab 246 kg per sq. m., so the solid slabs approx 40% heavier than hollow core slabs) and in width: 1195 mm for hollow core slab and 2500 mm for solid slabs.

So in accordance with that estimate you have to consider your planning capacity in the future, because as you see hollow core slab technology with the full capacity is 2 times cheaper than battery mould producing technology. But in the beginning with only base investment to battery mould technology seems to be cheaper. But keep in mind that battery mold production has more than 20-30% in the cost price of the slab in accordance with hollow core slab technology by the reason of rebar cage producing. Also keep in mind additional foundation cost, additional construction walls rebar cost and transportation costs (approx + 20%) for the solid slabs.

In Section 1 with the hollow core slabs technology difference between our offer is quality and automatisation: Option A and B is the fully automated System with cross coordination between Weiler/Maxtruder Batching plant, concrete delivery and casting process. For example the casting machine orders the exact volume of concrete by themself so you need only 1-2 operators for the full casting process (because concrete extrusion process has to be uninterrupted), but in the Option C you need staff up to 5 employees for manual operating control. Also quality and speed of Weiler/Maxtruder service machines as Saw or Multifunctional machines, as well as batching dosing systems is higher.

This can feed with concrete also battery moulds wall producing in QUOTATION No: Q24.1-141224 (to see the quotation click here). 

For reducing costs you can work without your own batching plant and concrete delivery system by ordering concrete to local suppliers with an auto-mixer and feeding it with a concrete cup with a bridge crane. This will result in slower work and dependence on local concrete suppliers (the concrete may be of poor quality, too runny, or too dry), as well as additional overhead crane workload in the workshop and the need for additional workers to constantly feddings concrete manually.

Section 1. Hollow core slab (with offered Extruder technology, by Weiler brand).

Weiler line for the production of 1,2 m (1195 mm) hollow-core floor slabs 180 mm height (and other types of products).
